Right: a typical Lorch precision plain-turning lathe of the 1930s and 1940s mounted on the maker's underdrive stand and equipped with an 'Overhead' to drive toolpost-mounted high-speed milling and grind. It came with a multi fix toolpost and holders, and a full set of collets. It is not setup yet, as he still needs to make a stand and get a VFD for the motor.

Any pictures of your particular lathe Paul because I'm interested. Thanks for the De Valliere link this is a maker I've never previously heard of and yours looks a very desirable lathe if in decent condition and certainly worthy of a lot of TLC. Hi, Oh dear Paul I hope my disease isn't spreading? I started just the same as you thinking I'll just tidy the lathe up and press it into service but this never works out as planned does it?
